Chapter 15

Simi’s party at the Pier, in Maryland, was in full swing, and it was a blast. Both Mar’kel and Su were enjoying themselves. The DEEJAY was playing good music, the catering was the bomb, and the pier was skillfully decorated. Mar’kel wore a tan dress by Stella McCartney and tan four-inch Christian Lacroix heels looking like a diva. She had her hair pulled back into high bun, which Khadijah charged her double for, because it was at such short notice. It was well worth it, because she was show stopper the second they walked in. Su, on the other hand, being an anomaly, chose to rock a Lady GAGA inspired green short dress with zippers on it and a pair of black four-inch Jimmy Choo sandals. Khadijah touched her hair up as well, and the shaven side of her head now had a Nike sign etched across it. Khadijah fussed and said it looked crazy, but Su insisted on it. The long side of her hair was flat-ironed straight with precision. All in all, Su looked excellent. Her smoky make-up was flawless. She was already a pretty girl.

Bleek was use to Su’s wild side, so he didn’t mind. He did admit that she was the only chick he knew that could pull something like that off. Mar’kel sipped on a glass of Pinot Grigio while Bleek and Su sipped Patron. The DEEJAY was playing Pharell featuring Jay-Z “Frontin”, and the crowd was jamming.

“AHH, my man, Bleek. How do you do? And who are these pretty ladies?” Simi appeared dressed to the nines in a black Sergio Armani suit with diamond cuff links and a black pair of Gators. His curly hair glistened in the disco lights and his grey eyes were sharp, but welcoming. He resembled the Jamaican rapper, Shaggy. He had a warm caramel complexion and was accompanied by two big burly black guys.

“My nigga!” Bleek said embracing him and then shaking his hand.

“It’s good to see you, too. Scouts honor. Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?” Su smiled at the sound of his smooth baritone voice liking what she saw in Simi.

“Oh, yeah. My bad. Simi this is Su and my lady. Mar’kel.”

Mar’kel’s face tightened when he introduced her as such, but she swallowed it and shook Simi’s hand.

“Well, hello, Su and Mar’kel. Nice name. I hope you ladies are enjoying your evening, yes?”

“Oh, yes. Thank you for your hospitality,” Su said obviously flirting.

“Yeah, this place is nice, Simi,” Mar’kel said looking around.

“I’m glad you approve, ladies. Would you mind if I stole him away from you for a second?” He was looking at Su, but was directing it to Mar’kel, who paid him no attention as she bit into a crab cake.

“Sure, no problem. We’ll be on the dance floor,” Su said, grabbing Mar’kel’s arm.

“I’ve been out the hood, but never to no shit like this girl. Do you think Brian’s trying to get you back? And did you see that nigga Simi looking like a honey? I’m thinking about reconsidering my diet to beef.
